THE (ICJ) RULING IN THE CASE OF COLOMBIA VERSUS NICARAGUA

The International Court of Justice (ICJ), after eleven years of deliberations, issued a ruling on November 19 ^th confirming Colombian’s sovereignty over seven islets near the Colombian islands of San Andrés and Providencia. But at the same time the ICJ granted Nicaragua an exclusive economic some of 200 nautical miles from its coast, drewing a new maritime boundary sharing out the waters claimed by both countries.
