PARIS MOU: SHIP DETENTIONS
A
Concentrated Inspection Compaign (CIC) study on propulsion and auxiliary
machine carried out between 1 september and 30 novembrer 2013 in Paris Mou
region shows that most of ship
detentions were a direct result of propulsion auxiliary machine deficiencies,
specifically in the main engine, cleanliness of the engine room and emergency
source of power/emergency generator. Inspections carried out on ships under the
flags of Panama, Liberia, Malta, Antigua Barbuda, Tuvalu, Tanzania, Curacao and
Togo show the highest number of detentions. A total amount of 68 ships were
detained: 34 were cargo/multipurpose ships, 9 bulk carriers and 9 container
