1.- GERMAN PORTS: 300M TONS IN 20 YEARS

The German ports have doubled the amount of cargo they handle over the past twenty years to 300 million tons. The two container ports of Bremen (261% up) and Hamburg (83% up), are largely responsible for this growth. Both of them account for 63% of Germany's total shipping trade.

NOVEDADES MARÍTIMAS GALLEGAS (XLIII)

1.- NAVANTIA FERROL: REPARACIÓN DE GASERO

El astillero ferrolano Navantia acaba de ganar el concurso mundial para la reparación de un gasero. Tras haber participado en el concurso astilleros del resto del mundo, Navantia se hizo con el contrato que permitirá emplear 200 obreros para dicha reparación. El astillero es especialista en el sector gasista, pues la mitad de sus buques son de este tipo.

1.- EU COURT RULING: AMENDMENT OF SPANISH STOWAGE 

The EU Court ruled last December 11th, 2014, that the Spanish regulations on stowage (Royal Legislative Decree No. 2 / 2011, 5 September, which approves the Revised Text of the Law of the State Ports and the Merchant Marine) are incompatible with the provisions of article 49 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

1.- DANISH MARITIME AUTHORITY: NEW SHIP SURVEY

Starting January 1st, the Danish Maritime Authority is surveying all Danish passenger ships in a new way. This new survey means that Renewal Surveys, MLC Surveys. ISM Audits and, in some cases, ISPS Surveys are combined into one survey. The types of ships covered by this new survey are passenger ships; passenger ships on voyages in port areas or lakes; viking ships carrying more than 12 passengers and ships for special purposes carrying more than 12 passengers.

1.- PUERTO DE VIGO: PREVISIÓN DE CRUCEROS 2015

El Puerto de Vigo recibirá este año 81 cruceros, que traerán cerca de 300.000 personas, lo que supondrá un incremento del 12 % respecto al año 2014. Las visitas se concentrarán en los meses de mayo, septiembre y octubre, que es cuando más escalas hay. Entre las nuevas escalas, destacan el Britannia, Anthem of the Seas, Norwegian EPIC, Asuka II, Costa Favolosa y Explorer of the Seas.

LA MARINA MERCANTE GALLEGA: PASADO, PRESENTE Y...¿FUTURO?

El próximo mes de marzo se cumplirán treinta años de la fundación de la Asociación de Navieros Gallegos (ANAGA), una Asociación en cuya constitución tuve la fortuna de poder tomar parte activa junto a destacados armadores de la época como Marcelo Castro-Rial (Sicar Line), Joaquin Menéndez Ponte (Naviera del Nalón), José Silveira (Naviera Ría de Arosa), Joaquín Arbones (Joaquín Davila y Cía) y Darío Amor (Naviera de Galicia), entre otros, primero como abogado maritimista y luego, además de como abogado maritimista, como Secretario General. Bajo la presidencia de Marcelo Castro-Rial, la Asociación, sensibilizada por los problemas que entonces atravesaba la marina mercante, trató de contribuir a crear las condiciones necesarias para su desarrollo  y de celebrar actividades conducentes al planteamiento, estudio y solución de sus cuestiones más preocupantes, como los cuadros indicadores de las tripulaciones mínimas, la formación de los tripulantes, la reserva de bandera, la importación y exportación de buques y la elaboración de un marco normativo para potenciar su competitividad.

1.-PUERTO DE VIGO: LÍDER EN TRÁFICO RO-RO EN TODA LA FACHADA ATLÁNTICA

El Puerto de Vigo ha liderado el tráfico ro-ro en toda la fachada atlántica al mover 423.000 vehículos a lo largo del 2014. Parte de este movimiento son exportaciones con destinos como Reino Unido y Alemania. Pero es Egipto el que mayor incremento ha experimentado el pasado año, en concreto en el sector de la automoción. Entre las marcas, destacan Citröen, Ford, Renault y Toyota.

1.- BIMCO: NEW REGIME FOR SHIP-TO-SHIP TRANSFERS

A new regime for ship-to-ship transfers has been launched by BIMCO. Aimed at dry bulk trades, the effect of using this new clause is twofold: on the one hand, to extend the rights of the charterers to carry out cargo operations at a place other than the berth originally contemplated; on the other, to get an indemnity from the charterers for any liabilities, losses or costs due to the operators.
